“I have got a game for you against the big kids. We are on
this pitch here, playing against the first team.”
According to the video of Wolves Under-8 versus the First
Team, Calvin Smith, who works for Wolves in recruiting young players, shared
his thoughts. He said the drills were meant to give the little guys a great
experience and create a strong sense of teamwork, like being part of one big
pack.
Every year, we make sure the under-8s get to hang out with
the first-team, however that happens. It's all about giving these young boys the
coolest experiences, especially when it comes to recruiting new talents. That's
what pre-academy is all about – making sure they have the best times and learn
lots of awesome stuff.
“We try and instill that ‘one pack’ mentality and these boys are at the start of their journey so if they can play and interact with their idols, it makes it more realistic and reachable. The fact that the first-team building is only 100 yards away from where the seven and eight-year-olds train is fantastic.” Calvin said.
